International Earth Day Fun at Queens Botanical Garden

Not to be confused with the April event that marks the beginning of the environmental movement, International Earth Day is celebrated on the vernal equinox.  To mark the occasion, QBG held a full day of fun on March 20.  The day started with over 100 volunteers giving the Garden a spring cleaning, and after a pizza lunch break, everyone reconvened for the March for the Earth.  We walked through the Garden, across the College Point Boulevard Bridge to the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.  The weather was glorious, and the perfect backdrop for the debut of Flora, the QGB mascot, who delighted both children and adults!
